Condemning the use of force against the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) activists, Democratic Freedom Party chairperson Shabir Ahmad Shah termed it “barbaric and state terrorism”.
“Mufti led government has no justification in imposing undue restrictions upon the peaceful activities of the leaders. The use of brute force against the leaders and activists is extremely condemnable,” Shabir Shah, who is under detention in Delhi along with Moulana Abdullah Tari, said in a statement on Sunday evening.
He said Mufti Sayeed should acknowledge defeat and must admit he’s helpless “before New Delhi and Nagpur”.
Terming the use of tear gas and Lathi charge against the TeH activists as “terrorist acts”, Shah said, “no such example of barbarism can be found in any civilized nation.”
He condemned and expressed strong anger over the arrest of TeH Secretary General Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and other leaders.
Meanwhile, the Freedom Party spokesperson in a statement condemned the continuous detention of its Secretary General Moulana Muhammad Abdullah Tari who is accompanying Shabir Ahmad Shah. “Both were arrested at Delhi airport and lodged in a guest house in South Delhi.”
He also said, “police during nocturnal raids in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district have arrested party leaders Engineer Farooq Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Amin (litter, Pulwama) and Bashir Ahmad Gattoo who are lodged in police stations since last few days. This is nothing but frustration of the state administration.”
