Following the inputs that militants may sneak in Srinagar to carry out attacks, Srinagar witnessed increased security arrangements on Wednesday. Joint columns of police and Central Reserve Police Force were witnessed carrying out thorough checking of vehicles, and frisking of pedestrians. The forces were seen stopping vehicles at many places for carrying out the searches.

Police sources told KNS that there are reports that militant may enter in Srinagar to carry out attacks. “Additional deployment of security forces and police is made at several places to stop any untoward incident, “he said. The searches were conducted at Qamarwari, Jahangir Chowk, Gantagar, Lal Chowk, Parimpora, Bemina, Hazuri Bagh, Nishat, Nehru Park, Tourist Centre, Residency road, MA Road and numerous other places.

Armored vehicles of police and paramilitary forces were seen at many road junctions. The traffic entering into Srinagar from other districts was also being thoroughly checked at Parimpora, Bemina, Panthachowk.In the many places, cops were seen wearing bullet-proof jackets and helmets.

However senior police officer said that that It is a routine exercise. “We do not have any input of presence of militants in Srinagar so far added that we’re prepared to meet any challenge,”.

Meanwhile people complained inconvenience due to the increased checking. “My car was stopped at least thrice a day by security forces and subjected me for checking. Which caused me undue inconvenience to reach office,” Shabir Ahmad a government employee in PDD department told KNS.
