SRINAGAR: A vehicle fell into a river near Drass in Ladakh on Monday morning, but timely intervention saved the lives of the two occupants, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said.
Rijiju, who was travelling in a convoy in the region, wrote on social media that the accident occurred just ahead of his cavalcade. “Before reaching Drass, one vehicle fell into the river just ahead of our convoy. Luckily, we were on time and both people survived,” he stated.
Local sources said the incident caused panic among passers-by, but security personnel and locals immediately rushed to the spot, pulling out the two men from the water. Both were reported to be out of danger. [KNT]
