Vigilance registers case against four R&B officials

Vigilance organization of Kashmir (VOK) on Tuesday registered a case against the four officials of Rural Block Development division Kupwara for punishable offences.

“A case under FIR No. 04/2017 P/S VOK has been registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir against the officials of R&B Division Kupwara,” a statement issued by VoK reads.

“The then officials were identified as Mohammad Sultan Sheikh, the then Executive Engineer  (now retired),  Abdul Gani Bhat, the then Head Draftsman R&B Division Kupwara presently PMGSY Kupwara, Mohammad Anwar Untoo the then Draftsman presently Head Draftsman  R&B Division Kupwara, Mohammad Maqbool Dar Draftsman R&B Division Kupwara,” it added.

“On the basis of a verification conducted into the allegations that during the period 2010-11 the officers/officials of R&B Division Kupwara have affected the purchase of crate mesh 4’’ x 4’’, 16’’x16’’ made out of 2.5 mm B, a wire 160 rolls measuring 40960 Sqfts on the exorbitant rate of Rs. 14/- per Kg, amounting to Rs. 1, 34,764.

The VOK mentions that during the course of verification, it was also established that the R&B Division Kupwara in the same period has purchased 112 number of sign Boards from one Sadat Enterprises Industrial Estate Branwari Kupwara at an exorbitant rate of Rs. 1208.92 per sign Board amounting to Rs. 1,35,399/-.

It adds that by purchasing the crate mesh and sign Boards on exorbitant rates have put the State Exchequer to the loss of Rs.2,70,163/.

VOK statement further mentions that the omission and commissions on the part of the above named public servants constitute offences punishable U/S 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B, RPC. It adds the further investigation taken up.
