Village Level Workers (VLWs) Monday staged a massive protest against incumbent National Conference legislator Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi for abusing and threatening a VLW from Frisal Block of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

They demanded immediate registration of an FIR against the accused legislator. The audio clip in which the NC legislator has been purportedly hurling choicest invectives on Village Level Worker Parvez Ahmed has gone viral and are making rounds on almost all the social networking sites including Whatsapp.

President All Jammu and Kashmir Village Level Workers Association Bashir Ahmed who was leading the protest told CNS that under Union government sponsored program ‘Swach Bharat Mission’ (SBM) the VLW from Frisal Block Parvez Ahmed had distributed 37 cheques among beneficiaries while four remaining cheques were also distributed after the completion of all the formalities.

“National Conference Legislator Abdul Majeed Larmi called Parvez on phone and abused him. He was aghast why VLW himself distributed the cheques,” he said and demanded action against the Legislator for his behaviour.

“Larmi called me from his phone number 9797200583 and ordered me to handover the SBM cheques to him. When I told him those have already been distributed among the beneficiaries, he lost his cool and started abusing me and my family members,” Parvez Ahmed, the victim said.

“His tone was horrible and abusive. I requested him not to abuse me but he didn’t stop. My three year’s old daughter was scared,” he said.

When contacted, lawmaker Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi said that it is a “bogus” recording “aimed at to malign his image”.

Larmi, however, admitted that he demanded the handing over of SBM cheques from VLW. “These VLWs are ‘corrupt’ and loot people. Under SBM program for the construction of lavatories they seek commission from the beneficiaries,” he alleged.
