Governor N N Vohra is proceeding on ‘leave’ from February 09, sources said.

Jammu and Kashmir is under Governor’s rule since January 09, two days after former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s demise.

Report said that Vohra has sighted “personal” reasons and shall not be in state for four days starting February 09.

Notably, early in the day, Vohra appointed two former IAS officers as his advisors and the development, insiders said, took place in this regard only. “Governor shall not be here for at least four days and it appears that the appointment of advisors on Thursday happened because of that as they will be taking care of the administration in his absence,” sources said.

The period when Vohra shall not be at the helm of affairs coincide with the death anniversaries of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru. Bhat was hanged in 1984 and Guru in 2013, both inside Delhi’s Tihar jail. Kashmir observes shutdown on the days to mark the anniversaries.
