SRINAGAR: Counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and the Union Territory of Puducherry commenced this morning at 8 am. Postal ballots were taken up first, followed by counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and orderly counting process.
Counting is underway for 293 Assembly seats in West Bengal, 126 in Assam, 140 in Kerala, 234 in Tamil Nadu, and 30 seats in Puducherry.
Meanwhile, in West Bengal, initial trends indicate that the BJP is maintaining a lead beyond the halfway mark as counting continues for the 2026 Assembly elections.
