SRINAGAR: Father of PDP leader Waheed Parra has passed away. Ghulam Ahmad Parra has been battling cancer for more than one year. He was 62.
Parra was a model apple grower in his area. Son of a staunch Congressman, he is survived by three sons and a daughter. The minor son of his daughter is currently admitted to AIIMS and has been in a coma for the last two months. He is fighting a life-threatening disease.
Parra’s funeral prayers are slated to take place after 01:30 pm at Naira in Pulwama. The family is waiting for his daughter to fly from Delhi where she is attending to her son.
For the last year, Parra was moving from one hospital to another after he was detected with fourth-stage metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. For some time, he was admitted to the TATA Hospital in Mumbai. Authorities prevented his son, Waheen from accompanying him to the hospitals in Delhi and Mumbai as NIA insisted the permission may not be granted.
