SRINAGAR: Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) on Sunday issued a circular directing all the private schools under its banner, not to charge any kind of admission/capitation fee for new admissions. The schools, however, can charge annual charges only.

The Association in a statement said that the general admission season in Kashmir Division starts in the month of October, however, the KG class admission process commences from September/October. “We already had a tough year and any delay in the admission process will have far-reaching adverse affects on the next academic calendar too. This is a crucial season for students and schools alike and we want the admission process to be smooth and in accordance with rules and regulations. This is also going to help a lot of parents and allow parents to change schools in new admission sessions”

The Association has impressed upon the parents seeking admission for their kids in any Private institution not to pay any admission/capitation fee in whatsoever form. In case of any violation, parents can approach the relevant authorities.

However, according to the association, the annual charges shall have to be paid as per the facilities available with the institution. “The parents are requested to ensure and ascertain the facilities offered by the institution and the annual charges shall be paid proportionate to the facilities,” said G N  Var in a statement. “The annual charges shall vary from Rs 3000 – Rs 15000 depending on the facilities offered by the institution,” he said.

The Association stressed on the schools to abide by the guidelines and informed the general public that only tuition and annual fee should be paid to schools during the admission process.
