SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday booked a wanted notorious drug smuggler under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
“The individual, identified as Umar Farooq Najar, son of Farooq Ahmad and resident of Kalayban Sheeri, Baramulla, has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The detained drug smuggler has been lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu,” police spokesperson said in a statement.
It is pertinent to mention that numerous cases have been registered against the aforementioned drug smuggler, who was involved in promoting the drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Kalayban, Sheeri, Fatehgarh, and other areas of the district. Despite being involved in multiple FIRs, he persisted in his activities, promoting drug abuse among local youth, according to the police.
