PDP secretary general on Saturday told party workers to “revive the tradition” and save Kashmiri society from “degeneration and impending disaster”. He invoked party’s earlier contribution when it set “new benchmarks of introspection, accountability and justice in the system.”

Sartaj-Madni“When people reposed their faith in the institution of dialogue and reconciliation, giving PDP a chance in 2002, the party not only delivered on peace but liberated Kashmiris from the shackles of uncertainty,” a party statement quoting Madni said. “As the party has a proven track record of delivery on justice, security and peace, its efforts to lead Kashmir towards a better future needs to be supported and supplemented.”

Madni said that PDP founder Mufti Sayeed’s political career remained full of challenges but his courage, conviction and vision helped change the course of tides. And, that remains the guiding light for the party.

“It was the PDP that instilled confidence among people to rise against the elements who were seen as criminalising politics and society in the past. Our party’s leadership has strong will to change the discourse and pull the state out of the maelstrom of pessimism and annihilation. In these crucial times, the people will have to stay strong, level headed and allow the party to deliver again,” Madni said.

Madni said “certain negative elements” are prowling on everything, burning schools, damaging the infrastructure, and making people’s lives miserable. “Sadly, their sponsors and sympathisers don’t have the moral conviction and standing to speak against the abominable acts that these ill-wishers of Kashmiris have unleashed,” Madni added.
