SRINAGAR: National Conference MLA from Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Khan, on Friday rejected speculation about the emergence of a separate faction within the party, saying the recent meeting of legislators with the party leadership was convened to raise and discuss their concerns.
Khan said the legislators had met NC president Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to put forward various political and other issues requiring the leadership’s attention.
He maintained that the gathering was part of their continued engagement with the party leadership and did not signify any move to establish a separate political group.
“We approach our party leadership whenever we have issues to raise. A few days ago, when we assembled at one place, it was projected in the media as if a separate party had emerged from the National Conference. No new party has been formed,” Khan said.
He said the leadership had assured the legislators that some of their concerns would be addressed promptly, while the remaining matters would be taken up in a phased manner.
