SRINAGAR: After three days of incessant rain and snow, the weather in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to improve on Sunday.

Officials of the meteorological (MeT) department said that light rain and snow may occur at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir, especially over eastern parts during next 24 to 48 hours.

“Thereafter, weather likely to remain dry till January 16,@ they said.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where the minimum temperature was minus 10.0 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra settled at a low of minus 1.8 degrees.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of 0.3 degrees Celsius while Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.3 degree Celsius.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius last night while Qazigund in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.4 degree Celcius.

Jammu city recorded 6.8 degrees Celsius, Katra 5.2, Batote minus 1.8, Banihal recorded minus 4.4 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 0.2 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
