The meteorological department on Saturday said that weather in Jammu and Kashmir will improve from tomorrow.

“Weather is likely to improve in Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow. We are expecting dry weather till April 23,” a Met official said.

The MeT official said that temperature has come down considerably in hilly and plains due to consistent rain and snowfall.

He said that Gulmarg received 18.4 mm rainfall, Qazigund 22.6 mm, Pahalgam 11.8mm, Kokernag 17.6 mm and the frontier Kupwara district 21.2 mm rains till Saturday morning. Srinagar, the capital city recorded 11.4 mm rain, as people in many localities complained of waterlogging.

The upper reaches of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, including health resort of Sonamarg, Gumri Zojila Pass received fresh snowfall.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of 7.4 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of 7.7 degrees Celsius.

The ski resort Gulmarg was at 0.1 and tourist destination Pahalgam was at 5.6.

Kokernag town recorded a low of 6.6 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 16 degrees Celsius, Katra town 13.6, Batote 7.2, Banihal 8.2 and Bhaderwah 7.9 degrees as the minimum temperatures.
