SRINAGAR: Rains lashed Kashmir valley on Wednesday as the meteorological (MeT) department said the weather would remain erratic till Sunday.

“Weather to remain erratic with widespread rains till 18th of April,” an official of the MeT department said.

“Expect significant improvement from18th onwards in Vally,” he said.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of 8.0 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of 7.4degrees Celsius.

The famous ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the region where the minimum temperature was 1.0degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Pahalgam the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra was 3.4 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of 6.8 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 6.0 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 21.6 degrees Celsius, Katra town 18.8, Batote 9.1, Banihal 7.6, and Bhaderwah 7.1 as the minimum temperatures.
