SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday apprehended three individuals in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district involved in drug trafficking, one of whom hails from West Bengal. During routine checks at Kanispora Chowk and Hardu Shoora Kunzer, officers seized illicit substances from their possession.

A police spokesperson said, “At Kanispora Chowk, Sheikh Hashmat, a resident of Malda, West Bengal, was stopped and found in possession of approximately 20 grams of brown sugar-like contraband. Hashmat was promptly arrested.”

Similarly, at Hardu Shoora Kunzer, Nazir Ahmad Mir from Chukar Pattan and Riyaz Ahmad Mir from Ratnipora Tangmarg were intercepted. Upon search, approximately 105 grams of Charas-like contraband were discovered in their possession. Both individuals were arrested and taken into custody.

The authorities have initiated investigations and registered cases against the accused under relevant sections of the law at police stations in Baramulla and Kunzer.
