SRINAGAR: The weatherman has predicted intermittent wet spells in Jammu and Kashmir until March 31, stating that two back-to-back Western Disturbances are going to affect the Union Territory from Wednesday evening.

Director Meteorological Department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that light wet spells are expected in Jammu & Kashmir from tomorrow evening.

“Generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow at several higher reaches is expected from March 27 evening to March 28,” he said, adding that moderate wet spells are expected from March 29.

“Partly to generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and snow is expected at most places during the evening of March 29 to the evening or night of March 30,” he said, adding that on March 31, the weather would remain partly to generally cloudy with the possibility of intermittent light rain and snow at a few places.

However, he mentioned that the weather would significantly improve from March 31 afternoon, with generally dry weather expected from April 01 to April 04.

In the detailed advisory, the weatherman has advised travellers and tourists to plan accordingly, particularly during March 30.

Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations during March 27-31, the advisory reads, adding that the possibility of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones during the above period cannot be ruled out.

Thunderstorm and lightning activity with the possibility of hailstorms & gusty winds during March 27-30 are also possible, the advisory reads.
