SRINAGAR: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday expressed disappointment over no mention of simultaneous polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Very disappointed, disheartened over no mention of LS and Assembly polls together in Jammu and Kashmir,” Dr. Farooq said.

He said Government of India on one side is talking of ‘One Nation, One Election’ but the conduct of the same was an opportunity for the Centre from Jammu and Kashmir. He said neither elections for state assembly are being conducted here nor state is being restored.

He said every political party including National Conference requested ECI to hold simultaneous polls in Jammu and Kashmir. “It was high time for ECI to hold polls simultaneously here and pave a way to people rule their region instead of Lieutenant Governor.

“Dal Mei Kuch Kala Hai, it is why they are delaying assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir”, Dr. Farooq held.

“When security is enough for Lok Sabha polls why not for Assembly elections? I feel sad. The ECI should rethink its decision. Today was an opportunity for GoI to bridge the gap between Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi,” Dr. Farooq maintained.
