SRINAGAR: The relations between Kashmir and Bollywood is an old one. There were days when some hotels in Gulmarg and Pahalgam would stay rented to the crews and top actors for around the year. Some of the actors would even hire houses in Nishat and Shalimar and stay quiet for most of the harsh summers.
As the Bollywood B-team is now frequenting Kashmir, seemingly they are trying to redefine the relationship. Unlike the past when the actors would come, it would require an effort to confirm their arrival. Now, every one of them lands with a hammer and tong.
Interestingly, they now resort to actions that were hardly seen earlier. This winter, almost three Bollywood actors stripped and took baths in heated up swimming pools – barring in one case, and quickly put their photographs on social media.
It all started with Sara Ali Khan who is quite often flying to Kashmir and is seemingly in love with the vale. Early this month, when the temperature in Gulmarg was minus two degrees Celsius, she decided to swim. The brief clip she shared on the social media platform, Instagram showed the entire neighbourhood beyond the huge glass ceiling as she was swinging in her pink swimsuit.
Khan’s swimming looked like a solo performance till Mouni Roy, another actor, flew with her husband for a honeymoon. Days after, she followed Khan. Her photographs in the swimsuit went viral. “Mouni Roy is definitely raising the temperatures in Kashmir by pulling off such gorgeous poses,” the caption to one of her photographs reads. “We must say she has guts to wear such a hot swimsuit in cold Kashmir.”
Mouni’s getting into black and jumping into the swimming pool seemed apparent jealousy but then came Vidyut Jamwal who chooses the real cold water.
While shooting for his upcoming flick, Vidyut, basically from Jammu, jumped into a frozen lake at a temperature of minus eight degrees.
Why are these actors doing it is not known. However, these pictures and videos they record in Kashmir get them instant spikes in reach and fan following. Vidyut’s video was watched by more than half a million people. The two females have crossed a million mark views.
But in showing what they wish, the real is unreal. The two ladies invested good money to ensure that the swimming pool is heated up. The only genuine video is that of Jamwal because there was no possibility of putting ambers into the ice.
