PM Modi and CM Mufti

With flood clouds apparently withering away in valley, CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is flying New Delhi Saturday to meet PM Narendra Modi over a dinner. But before the meeting, a political grapevine making rounds in JK political circles is: Will the state be served with already dished out Rs 44,000 flood package during the dinner meeting?

The meeting is taking place at that time when the state govt is saying: “The Worst is over.”

Primarily, Mufti is expected to brief PM Modi about the situation arisen in the state due to the recent heavy rainfall.

“But Mufti will also be taking up the issue of release of Rs 44,000 crore flood relief package in the meeting,” sources said. The proposal was submitted to centre by the previous state regime after quantifying the flood losses.

CM Mufti is also expected to discuss the current political situation in the state with Modi.

The meeting has assumed significance—as reportedly, PDP may join NDA government at the Centre. If that happens, then PDP Mehbooba Mufti may be given a Cabinet berth in the next rejig of Modi’s Council of Ministers, taking place in April 8.
