A windstorm uprooted trees and caused extensive damage to scores of residential houses in north Kashmir’s Sopore and Baramulla areas.

Reports said that the windstorm hit  Sopore and Baramulla areas in the afternoon causing damage to public property there.

Scores of poplar trees fell on vehicles along the road. However, no casualty was reported in the incident.

Following the windstorm,  power supply in parts of Baramulla and Sopore has also been snapped due to the breaking of poles and cables.

Pertinently,  MeT department on early Saturday issued a statement predicting intermittent rain and thunderstorm for next 24 to 48 hours in parts of Kashmir region.
