Former Forest Minister who defeated Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in 2002 Assembly Elections from Ganderbal Constituency Tuesday said that Omar will commit a blunder by contesting from Ganderbal in forthcoming Assembly elections.

“People want change and detest Chief Minister. I wish Omar contests from Ganderbal but I know he won’t,” Qazi Afzal told CNS adding that people of Ganderbal term the Mufti’s rule as golden one.

Peoples Democratic Party senior leader Qazi Afzal said that National Conference failed to win the hearts of people. The promises made to people by Chief Minister were not fulfilled and people in general are aghast. “There is an anti NC wave in Ganderbal and Omar Abdullah knows it well,” he said.

“There is no development in the district. The District Hospital is still incomplete while Omar Abdullah is pressurizing the District administration to complete at least two wards of the hospital so that he could inaugurate it,” Afzal said adding that PDP will inflict a massive defeat on NC in forthcoming Assembly elections.

Responding to a query, Afzal said that people are the ultimate source of power and authority. “People want change this time and they will not allow mobile voters of NC to rig the elections this time,” he said adding that people of Ganderbal still cherist the rule of Mufti Muhammad Sayed.
