SRINAGAR: Police in Handwara have arrested a person accused of rape within hours after the complaint was received, a spokesman for the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in Srinagar.
“Today Police Post Zachaldara received a written complaint from one person stating therein that his sister was raped by one person namely Parvaiz Ahmad Bajad son of Noor Din resident of Nagranar before two days when she went to collect firewood nearby store and thereafter threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone,” the spokesman said. “Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 164/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated.”
The spokesman said a special team headed by SHO Handwara was constituted to nab the accused. The Police team after utilizing all available means and due to strenuous efforts arrested the accused person within hours of complaint received by police. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
