SRINAGAR: A self-styled godman allegedly axed an elderly woman to death in the Chogal area of Handwara in North Kashmir on Friday afternoon.
A police official told Kashmir Life that the victim, identified as Atiqa Begum (60), wife of Late Abdul Rehman Lone, had gone to visit the self-styled godman, Ghulam Rasool, also known as ‘Las Babb’.
“Atiqa Begum was reportedly struck multiple times on the head by the accused. She was initially taken to GMC Handwara for urgent medical attention but was later referred to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar. Unfortunately, she passed away en route to the hospital,” the official said.
Police went to the spot to ascertain facts, and the investigation is going on, the official added.
