SRINAGAR: A woman from Ramban district delivered a baby boy on board a train travelling from Sumbar to Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.
An official said that the woman went into labour during the journey and gave birth with the assistance of the Railway Protection Police team, which promptly extended support and ensured immediate care.
Both the mother, identified as Akhtara Bano of Sumbar village, and the newborn are reported to be in good health.
Medical facilities were arranged at Banihal railway station to provide further care to the mother and child.
