SRINAGAR: A woman died after giving birth to a baby girl at the district hospital Pulwama, allegedly due to medical negligence, the family members said.

The woman has been identified as Anisa Jan wife of Feroz Ahmad Mir of Rakh village of Pulwama.

Family members of the deceased woman alleged that the doctors at the district hospital Pulwama ignored her condition despite repeated requests from the family members.

“She was in good condition and was operated upon at around 9 pm on Saturday evening at the district hospital Pulwama. Soon after delivering the baby she developed acute pain and we informed doctors. They ignored our pleas and repeatedly assured us that her condition is good. However, at 3 am she developed complications following which she was shifted to LD hospital,”said one of the relatives of Anisa Jan.

Adding further he said that doctors at LD informed them that the woman was in a very critical contiditon.

A senior doctor at LD said that the patient had developed some complications at the district hospital Pulwama and was referred in shock to LD, where she was received at around 4:30 am.

“We informed her family members that she is almost dead and as per protocol she was taken to theatre for resuscitation but she collapsed,” he said.

Medical superintendent DH Pulwama Dr A G Dar said that they will investigate the matter and find out the cause of referral and death as well.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased woman have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.(KNO)
