SRINAGAR: An unidentified woman has died after getting hit by a passenger cab here in Bramri locality along Kupwara-Srinagar Highway on Friday evening.
Reports said that the woman was hit by an Eco–passenger cab – bearing registration number JK-05J 4544 near Al-Fayaz Public School in Bramri area. The woman received critical injuries in the incident and was evacuated to District Hospital Handwara, however, the doctors there declared her as brought dead on arrival.
The identity of the deceased lady has not been immediately ascertained.
A police official concerned confirming the incident told news agency GNS that the female is presumably in her twenties. The body has been kept at the mortuary at the district hospital and efforts are on to ascertain her identity.
“We have arrested the erring driver and seized the vehicle and a case under relevant sections of law taken up in this matter for further proceedings”, the official added.
