SRINAGAR: A woman died while her husband was injured after the scooty they were travelling on was hit by an Alto car near Hiranagar Morh in Kathua district on Monday, officials said.
Quoting an official, the news agency KNO reported that the accident occurred near a petrol pump at Hiranagar Morh when an Alto car collided with the scooty.
The official said the woman sustained critical injuries in the accident and was shifted to a hospital along with her husband. She later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
The deceased was identified as Reena Devi, 42, wife of Ranjeet Kumar, while her injured husband was identified as Ranjeet Kumar, 51, son of Gian Chand. Both were residents of Ghagwal in Samba district.
Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation into the accident, and further proceedings are underway, officials said.
