SRINAGAR: A 25-year-old woman died after slipping into a deep gorge in a forested area of Doda district on Wednesday, officials said.
The deceased, identified as Rafia Begum, wife of Sayed Mohammad and a resident of Kumhar Chuichatter in Tehsil Rajgarh, had gone to the nearby Harmali Nalla forest to collect firewood when she lost her footing and fell into the gorge, resulting in her instant death, an official said.
Her body has been shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
