SRINAGAR: The Ganderbal Police have successfully cracked a theft case by apprehending an accused individual involved in the crime.

The incident unfolded on April 2, 2024, when Kaiser Ahmad Waza, son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Waza and resident of Tawheed Chowk Ganderbal, lodged a written complaint at the Ganderbal Police Station. Waza reported that his sister-in-law, who had been staying as a guest at his residence, had absconded with gold ornaments stored in the locker of his room.

Promptly responding to the complaint, the Ganderbal Police initiated an investigation, registering a case under relevant sections of the law (FIR No. 64/2024). Under the direction of SSP Ganderbal, Sandeep Gupta-IPS, a specialized police team, led by SHO PS Ganderbal, Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS, was formed to pursue the case.

With diligent efforts and leveraging technical resources, the police team successfully apprehended the accused individual at Hari Singh Highstreet in Srinagar. Subsequent interrogation led to the admission of guilt by the accused, who confessed to stealing the gold ornaments and selling them for monetary gain.

During the preliminary investigation, authorities seized Rs 1,85,500 in cash and a scooty from the accused’s possession. The suspect has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
