The minister of state for Home, Industries and Commerce, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo accompanied by director general of Police, Ashok Prasad on the directions of chief minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday morning inspected Sher-Garhi Police Station, a portion of which is coming under prestigious Rs.350 cr Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh Flyover.

The minister gave nod for dismantling the required portion of the Police Station and asked the higher authorities of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) to dismantle the part of building immediately to pave way for speedy execution of the fly over project.

The contract for construction of the Flyover has been accorded to Simplex Infra Ltd, for an amount of Rs.200 cr whereas Rs.150 cr has been earmarked for the land acquisition and rehabilitation part of the project. The expected time for completion of the Flyover Project has been the targeted about 3 years.

The proposed 2.4 km Flyover will reduce the journey time from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh from 28 minutes to just, 2 ½ minutes and will go a long way in reducing the traffic congestion on this busy part of the Lal Chowk to International Airport, Humhama.

Government has already taken-up construction of two mega shopping complexes at Rambagh for rehabilitation of the effected Shopkeepers under the Fly over project.
