SRINAGAR: An 18-year-old labourer died after accidentally coming into contact with a high-tension (HT) power line while installing a smart electricity meter in the Khimber-Zakura area of Srinagar on Friday, officials said.
Officials said the labourer suffered an electric shock after coming into contact with the HT line during the installation of the smart meter. He subsequently fell from the electric pole, sustaining multiple injuries.
He was immediately shifted to hospital in an unconscious condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Murtaza Khatana (18), son of Abdul Rasheed Khatana, a resident of Garkoot, Uri.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings. (KNO)
