Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) on Saturday organized Divisional and District level awareness programmes on the eve of World Tuberculosis Day 2018,” an official spokesman said.

The Divisional seminar was organized at Government Dental College Auditorium Srinagar wherein Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman was the Chief Guest. The event was organized by State TB society Kashmir and District TB Society.

“On the occasion, Dr Showkat Ali Looloo, State TB Officer Kashmir during his inaugural speech highlighted the current scenario of TB in Kashmir and the availability of advanced Diagnostic tools for TB diagnosis and its treatment free of cost at nearest health centers,” the statement said.

Dr Saleem ur Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir in his speech highlighted the role of private practitioners and private Diagnostic laboratories in RNTCP programme. He emphasized upon all officers/officials of Department and other stakeholders to accelerate RNTCP activities with zeal and dedication so that desired results are achieved and also to promote TB awareness among masses to remove the stigma associated with TB.

The function was attended by various officers/officials from Health Department, faculty from Government Medical College, SKIMS, Drug and Food Control Department, Religious leaders, Private Practitioners and other stakeholders.

Moreover, World TB Day functions along with rallies were also observed across Kashmir Division by District TB control societies under the aegis of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.
