SRINAGAR: A wreath-laying event was held on Monday in District Police Lines Srinagar where tributes were paid to the PSO of PDP leader Haji Parviaz Ahmad, who was killed at Asthan Mohalla Natipora.
A police spokesman in a statement said, “Today at about 1050hrs, Srinagar police received information about a crime incident at Natipora area of District Srinagar where militants had fired upon PSO of PDP leader. Senior police officers reached the spot.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that militants had fired upon PSO of PDP leader Haji Parviaz Ahmad at Asthan Mohalla Natipora. The injured PSO was evacuated to a nearby hospital for the treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as SgCt Manzoor Ahmad of 11th BN Security,” said the spokesman.
“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. The area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on,” he said.
A police spokesperson in a statement said that civil and Police Officers led by DGP J&K Shri Dilbag Singh-IPS laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid tributes to the slain.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar-IPS, DIG CKR Amit Kumar-IPS, SSP Srinagar, SSP Security besides, other officers & officials and family members of the martyr also laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty, said the spokesman.
“Jammu and Kashmir Police stands by the family of the slain at this critical juncture and pay rich tributes to the slain,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
