Traffic Police under the supervision of SSP Traffic City, Srinagar Maqsood-ul-Zaman Monday started a special drive against on-street parking violation by pasting sticker notice on the front screen of the vehicle. The wrongly parked vehicles were filmed on spot clearly indicating the registration number of the vehicle with the notice pasted on it with some indication of the place of violation.

The sticker notice served to the violator on windscreen of his/her vehicle under section 133 MV Act 1988 for obstructive/wrong parking with addition of section 187 MV Act 1988 which carries punishment of imprisonment for a term which may not exceed 03 months or with a fine which may extent to Rs 500/= or with both, a police statement said this evening.

The owner/driver pasted with sticker notice on his/her vehicle should contact the office of SSP Traffic City Srinagar with relevant documents and remit the prescribed fine against proper Government Receipt (GR). In case the violator fails to respond to the notice within 15 days, his/her challan would be submitted to the Court of Law for prosecution. The details of the vehicle would be retrieved from the concerned RTO/ARTOs.

The drive shall continue unabated till the menace of obstructive/wrong parking is eliminated for the convenience of commuters and general public.
