Giving details, Range Officer Pattan/Tangmarg Dr Mehraj told news agency CNS the department has been supplying timber to the locals of Pattan town from Khanabal Kupwara Timber Depot. The Forester Khanabal Kupwara Range used to supply the timber in black to a band saw owner located in Palhalan. “After receiving complaints from the people, we caught the driver red-handed unloading the timber meant for people in the premises of a band-saw owner in Palhalan. During investigation it came to fore that the Driver was innocent as he only followed the commands of the Forester who used to mislead him. The investigation further revealed that such practice was going on from past few months,” he said and added that the Department took strong not of the wrongdoings of the Forester and on the directions of Chief Conservator Forest Division Kashmir, suspended him while a case was registered against him in police station Pattan.
