Over 6000 pilgrims left Jammu for the Kashmir valley to pay obeisance at the Amarnath cave, a day after the pilgrimage was suspended.

“Two convoys, comprising 2998 and 3163 pilgrims each, have left from Jammu for the Amarnath shrine through Baltal and Pahalgam routes, respectively,” an official said.

The first batch of pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra was flagged off on June 27. However, the pilgrimage was temporarily halted a day later due to heavy rainfall at the Baltal base camp.

Meanwhile, CRPF convoy escorted the pilgrims to the Kashmir valley.

The 60-day Yatra will end on August 26, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival.
