A  batch of 5,210 pilgrims left Jammu on Monday for the Kashmir Valley to perform the Amarnath Yatra.

They left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in an escorted convoy of vehicles, as 2,372 pilgrims are going to Baltal base camp while 2,838 towards Pahalgam, an official said.

The 45-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on July 1 has been going on smoothly. Till date, over 1,82,712 pilgrims have paid their obeisance at Amarnath cave.

The pilgrimage will end on August 15, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival.
