The Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday said it is yet to identify the land for the establishment of AIIMS in Kashmir valley as the technicalities involved in it delayed the process a bit.

Talking to KNS, Revenue Minister Javaid Mustafa Mir confirmed that the health department had sent his ministry the intimation so that land in Kashmir valley could be identified for the establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at the earliest.

Mir said he has to write back to the health department- stating that the technicalities involved in the project must be mentioned in detail ahead of going with the project further. The minister added that the main technicality involved in the identification of the land for AIIMS is valley is the ‘feasibility’ and the environment required for establishment of such an institution.

“Though I do not want to go into details, it is important to ask the health department first that what are the requirements in terms of feasibility for establishing AIIMS,” he said.

The Minister further that he has written back to the health department four days earlier and is hopeful of getting a reply soon.

“I hope the process will begin soon. As the health department comes up with the details, we will begin the process of identifying the land for AIIMS,” Mir said.
