SRINAGAR: A young man, who is studying in twelfth standard, was killed in a Shopian village. He was identified as Adil Farooq Magrey, a resident of Ganavpora, 5 kms from Shopian.

Details reaching here said that the troops from 44-RR, CRPF and police cordoned off the village that triggered instant reaction. As the two sides were adamant on their positions, people protesting against CASO at the time of Ramzan breakfast, it created a crisis. Local youth resorted to stone pelting despite massive rains lashing the area.

It was during this crisis that the counter-insurgency grid opened fire. At least five persons were reported injured by the residents. Only one of them was rushed to Shopian hospital. He was ere declared brought dead. His corpse is still in the hospital.

On the request of the locals, the hospital has rushed ambulances to the area to fetch the injured. So far no other injured has reached the hospital. The local administration has asked hospital administration to recall the hospital employees and resume duties.
