SRINAGAR: Rohit Shetty has promised singer Qazi Touqeer an opportunity to perform playback singing in one of his films, while praising his performance on Bigg Boss 20 during Saturday’s Weekend Ka Vaar episode.

Rohit Shetty, who appeared as the interim host, encouraged Qazi Touqeer during the episode, saying he was gaining public support and could expect more work after his stint on the reality show.
Shetty made the assurance after Touqeer expressed his wish to work with the filmmaker. He promised the singer a playback opportunity if he made a film featuring a romantic track.
“I am speaking on national television. While Golmaal is a funny film, if I make a film where there is a romantic track, I will give it to you. You will do the playback,” Shetty said.
The filmmaker also discussed the confrontation between Touqeer and fellow contestant Aasif Khan during the nomination process, blaming Aasif for escalating the argument.
Shetty said Aasif had nearly struck Touqeer on the forehead, warning that such an act could have resulted in his eviction, as had happened in Nakul Dhull’s case.
He also took issue with Aasif, Yung and Scout for backing Aasif during the dispute, suggesting that they appeared to gang up on Touqeer. Amrapali had also supported Aasif during the heated exchange.
While acknowledging Touqeer’s disagreements with fellow contestants, Shetty praised him for resolving conflicts quickly and apologising the following day.
He advised Touqeer against using abusive language during arguments and urged him not to lose his composure when provoked, cautioning that such behaviour did not suit him.
Shetty reiterated that Touqeer was doing well on the show and predicted that he would receive considerable affection from viewers, along with professional opportunities after leaving the programme.
Touqeer rose to prominence after winning the musical reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005. He returned to reality television in September 2026 as a contestant on Bigg Boss 20, hosted by Salman Khan.
In another development, acclaimed boxer Mary Kom was evicted from Bigg Boss 20 on Saturday after losing her second lifeline.
