Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar Tuesday said that the youth are productive and creative members of the society and it should be ensured that their abilities are used for the progress and development of the country.

The Minister was addressing a function organized to observe the foundation day of Bharat Scouts and Guides at Youth Service and Sports complex in Gandhi Nagar Jammu today in which about 200 Scouts/Guides, Scouters/Guiders and Heads of various institutions participated, an official spoekspersons aid this evening.

The Minister stressed upon the youth to channelize their energies towards right perspective and make the state proud of their contribution in strengthening the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood among various sections of the society.

Akhtar said Jammu and Kashmir is proud of the services being rendered by Bharat Scouts & Guides in promoting communal harmony among the people from various walks of life.

The Minister wished the Scouts and Guides and appreciated the steps being taken to spread the message of this noble movement in every corner of the State.

He said this movement is trying to cultivate basic values such as commitment, conviction, character, courtesy and cheerfulness in the young Scouts and Guides which is the need of hour. He assured that he would always be ready to lend helping hand for the noble cause.

Responding to the demands, the Minister assured the National Jamboree will be organized in the State soon and also establish a training centre for Bharat Scouts and Guides.

Earlier, Scouts/Guides presented Scouts/Guides stickers to the dignitaries as a token of acclaiming them being the upholders and maintainers of this Benign movement.

N A Khan welcomed all the dignitaries, the guest, and the students and also gave a brief of the importance of this day as it is a day of introspection for all connected with the movement.

The programme was started with All-Faith Prayer.

On the occasion, Dr SRI RAM Memorial Awards were also given away to the year’s Best Scout Masters/Guide Captains named Shiekh Mohammad Shafi and Nawaz Ahmed from Kashmir Division and Manjeet Kour and Sheikh Annantyat Ullah from Jammu Division by the Minister.

Naeem Akhtar reviews implementation of PMMM Mission

Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today convened a meeting with consultative committee of the experts and State Collaborators (SIE and DIETs etc.) to chalk out an action plan for   implementation of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) in the state.

The meeting was organized by the Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed on the need to revisit the education system in the state and called for coordination among various agencies involved in implementation of various education schemes.

The Minister emphasized on creating integration to generate pool of academic and intellectual young minds having scientific temper while highlighting the areas of immediate intervention required in the field of school education and teacher education.

He said that focus should be laid on the capacity building programme in science, mathematics and languages with the effective use of ICT. The meeting decided to develop SIE and DIET, Jammu and DIET Srinagar as incubating centers and model institutions for quality teaching and teacher programmes.

Earlier, Prof Ashok Aima, VC, CUJ, stressed on the need to bridge gap between university and school education and assured of all possible financial and academic support.

Later, the Minister visited Government Primary School at Sainik Colony and inspected the quality of Mid-day meal being given to the students besides taking stock of other facilities available there.

The Minister also interacted with the students and exhorted upon them to concentrate on their studies besides focusing on extra-curricular activities for their overall development.

Chief Education Officer and other officers accompanied the Minister.
