The family members of a city youth has accused police of harassment insisting their ward was arrested at Srinagar Airport when he was on way to Delhi. The family alleged he was implicated in a false case, local news gatherer CNS reported.
Dawood Mushtaq, a resident of Nowhatta Srinagar, according to his family members was detained at Srinagar Airport. He was taken to Cargo for interrogation where from he was shifted to police station Khanyar, the family informed. “Now we were informed that he has been booked under Public Safety Act and has been shifted to Kot Balwal Jail,” a family member of Dawood said.
Quoting family sources, the news gatherer said, Dawood is neither is a stone-pelter nor a militant. “Dawood’s only fault is that he is the relative of a militant commander,” it said.
They alleged that family members are disallowed to meet him and they are anxious about his safety. When contacted a police official said that the arrested youth is a ‘known’ stone-pelter. “Dawood was not only a stone-pelter but he was the front-runner who incited youth for stone-pelting in the old Srinagar city,” the officer was quoted saying.
