As a fierce gun-battle rattles in Hakdipora village of Pulwama district in southern part of Kashmir, civilian protesters are engaged in massive stone pelting clashes with forces around the encounter site.

Reports reaching here said that people from all the neighbouring villages are marching towards Hakdipora where a militant identified as Arif Lelhari has been killed in the on-going encounter.

Forces deployed in the area used live ammunition, pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters who pelted them with stones. At least 15 protesters have sustained injuries during clashes, sources said.

A civilian, identified as Jehanagir Ahmad of Kakapora, was hit by bullet in his abdomen. He was shifted to SMHS hospital for specialized treatment. His condition is stated to be critical.

Several others have suffered pellet injuries, reports said.

Top Lashkar commander Abu Dujana is believed to be trapped inside a house along with an associate.
