A youth was injured after allegedly thrashed by government forces during last night searches at Kundalan village in Shopian district of south Kashmir.

Locals of the area said last night army’s 34 RR conducted search operation in the village Kundalan.

When the forces find nothing, they allegedly entered inside a residential house of Shakoor Ahmad Dar and beat him resulting in injuries to him, they said.

The locals said that the injured youth was taken to nearby hospital where doctors referred him to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.

The locals of the area meanwhile sought the intervention of Deputy Commissioner concerned for appropriate action against what they said growing incidents of manhandling people during searches.

An army spokesman denied the allegations and said that army has beaten no one in the area. “There is no truth about army has beaten the youth and the allegations leveled against them is baseless,” he said. (GNS)
