Police on Saturday said that the youth killed by unidentified gunmen at Naseem Bagh in Srinagar was an active militant affiliated with Zakir Musa group.
A police spokesperson in a statement said that an individual was today killed when he was fired upon in Hazratbal area of district Srinagar.
“A pistol was also recovered from the spot. Consequently, he was identified as Asif Nazir Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Panzgam Awantipora,” said police spokesperson in a statement.
“This militant was active since January 2017. Initially, he had joined the proscribed militant outfit HM but later got associated with the Esa Fazili group of militants,” he said.
“Police has registered a case in this regard and the investigation has been initiated,” he added.
“Body has been handed over to the legal heirs after completion of legal formalities,” said police spokesman in a statement.
