Police on Monday claimed that Ansar Gazwatul Hind Kashmir chief Zakir Musa and his two associates carried out the bank robbery in Noorpora village of Tral earlier in the day.

Reports quoting senior police officials said that militant Zakir and his two associates fired several gunshots before decamping Rs. 97256 from the JK bank branch Noorpora.

Meanwhile, a police statement issued late Monday evening saif that the militants who had come to loot public money were chased away by thelocals with stones

The statement said that the militants were made to retreat by locals when they came to loot public money from a bank in Noorpora area of Tral township in Pulwama district.

“The locals who were present near the Noorpora branch of J&K Bank pushed back the militants with stones. The militants retreated from the bank while firing few aerial gunshots and meanwhile managed to take around 1 lac currency with them,” it said.
