In wake of the prevailing situation, curfew continued in parts of Kashmir for second consecutive day on Saturday to avoid protests against the killing of militant commander Zakir Musa.

Musa was killed in a gunfight with government forces on Friday morning in Dadsara village of Tral in south Kashmir.

Reports said that besides a huge deployment of police and paramilitary forces, barricades have been erected at various parts of Kashmir.

They said strict restrictions were in place in Nowhatta, Rainawari, Khanyar, Safakadal and M R Gung police station areas of Srinagar district.

Soon after the news of Zakir’s killing spread mobile Internet services were snapped across the valley to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, all the educational institutes have been closed by the authorities today a “precautionary measure”.
