Massive clashes amid a shutdown erupted at various places in southern Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday where three LeT militants were killed during last night in a gunfight with forces.

Clashes, according to reports, erupted near the site of gunfight in Nusu Badragund and Bonigam villages in Qazigund area against the militant killings.

They said government forces resorted to massive tear-gas shelling to disperse the protesters, who in return pelted the forces with stones.

Clashes were also reported from Vesu and Devsar areas besides other adjoining villages.

Reports said that traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway was also affected due to the clashes near Qazigund.

The authorities have already suspended the train and Internet services in twin districts of Islamabad and Kulgam.
