National Conference legislator Abdul Majid Larmi on Saturday staged a protest in the assembly over setting up of an army camp in Shamsipora Home-Shalibugh.

MLA Home Shalibugh Larmi stormed into the well and demanded a statement from the government over the issue.

The army’s counter-insurgency force Rashtriya Rifles has started taking over nearly 10 hectares of grazing land and playfield in the village.

“People have again gathered there at Shamsipora as security forces have occupied land; they have not left the area yet and three days have passed and the government has done nothing,” Larmi told the house.

“There is a sports ground and a receiving station; the occupation of land is an important issue,” Larmi told the house.

Meanwhile, the residents have threatened of an agitation if the army camp was not removed immediately.

Parliamentary Affairs minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri, informed the house that government has sought details of the issue from the administration.
